ABOUT THE POSITION

The Junior Operational Improvement Specialist supports operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives and the consistent application of warehouse and manufacturing best practices. Working closely with portfolio company leaders, this role assesses existing processes, identifies opportunities for improvement, and guides projects from design through implementation. Key responsibilities include building stakeholder buy-in, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensuring improvements are sustained over time.

This position is based in Toronto, Ontario, and requires frequent travel to portfolio companies throughout the Greater Toronto Area, with occasional extended travel within Canada and the United States.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations

• Collaborate with the Operational Improvement Specialist and portfolio company management teams to assess workflows and implement improvement plans.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and optimal stock levels across warehouse and distribution centre locations.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies and transaction errors, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Plan and conduct cycle counts, reconcile physical inventory with system records, and ensure compliance with inventory policies.
• Use advanced Excel functions, ERP data, and analytical tools to identify trends, anticipate issues, and support informed decisions.
• Prepare inventory reports and track key performance indicators, including accuracy, turnover, order accuracy, cycle count completion, and supplier performance.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to prevent stockouts, reduce excess inventory, and improve operational performance.
• Maintain plant layouts, bin locations, operational parameters, inventory transactions, and item master data to support efficient material flow.
• Lead and facilitate continuous improvement projects through project design, stakeholder buy-in, implementation, and sustained cost and efficiency improvements. Utilizing engineering methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma principled to identify and eliminate waste to drive operational efficiency
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), train and motivate teammembers, and reinforce safe, standardized warehouse practices.
• Monitor adherence to procedures for equipment inspections, damage handling,replenishment, cleanliness, picking, shipping, receiving, and cycle counts;escalate concerns as needed.
• Pursue ongoing professional development to strengthen skills and meet job objectives.

Other

• Study historically successful organizations, leaders and managers and use the lessons learned to improve our portfolio companies;
• Build a playbook for a Center of Excellence approach to create a baseline of best practices for the team to enforce: Project Management, Stakeholder Communications, DMAIC Approach and other systems.
• Obtain various information as needed from portfolio company management teams;
• Conduct additional tasks as directed by Lynx’s executive management team;
• Facilitate cultural change in portfolio companies to ensure best practices are beingimplemented and followed;
• Assist with auditing of portfolio companies.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Post-secondary education in an Engineering discipline or relevant work experience for the role;
• 2 years of progressive experience in the manufacturing or construction sector with engineering and process development experience;
• 2 years of experience in a warehouse environment with a thorough understanding of the warehouse processes
• Experience in either Continuous improvement, TPM, Six Sigma, or Lean manufacturing, deployment.  World class manufacturing will be an advantage
• Desirable certifications: Six Sigma Black Belt or similar, Project Management

• Proven capability of leading a transformation effort, including change management, mentorship, ensuring stakeholder engagement and robust communication;
• Ability to influence with integrity at all levels of the organization and make strategic decisions;
• Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships;
• Must have the leadership presence to energize, drive and lead the teams;
• Ability to establish credibility and be decisive but able to recognize and support the organization's preferences and priorities;
• Self-motivated; takes initiative;
• Strong presentation skills;
• Team-oriented; willingness to pitch in and help out at all levels of business;
• Ability to prioritize and follow through on tasks to completion;
• Proven organizational and time management skills;
• Excellent problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail;
• Strong written and verbal skills to communicate in English with all levels of the organization;
• Ability to work independently and as a team member;
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Power BI).

WORK CONDITIONS

• On-site with different subsidiary companies mostly within the GTA
• Manual dexterity required to operate computer and peripherals

• Travel with Ontario and occasionally toother provinces, the United States and Europe

COMPENSATION & PERKS

• Annual Salary $60,000 - $70,000 CAD depending on qualifications and experience
