Blind Bay Village Grocer Wins Canadian Grocer 2025 Impact Award for Community

September 4, 2025

We are proud to announce that our subsidiary, Blind Bay Village Grocer (BBVG), has been recognized with the 2025 Canadian Grocer Impact Award in the Community category. This award highlights 17 businesses across Canada making meaningful contributions to the communities they serve.

At Lynx, a great source of pride is seeing our businesses strengthen the economies and communities around them. This recognition celebrates BBVG’s commitment to doing just that, notably for its Love Local Holiday Market that took place in December 2024, welcomed 33 local vendors, free of charge, to showcase a wide range of goods including food, clothing, and art.

“Our core philosophy, ‘Love Local,’ was the driving force behind the Holiday Market,” said James Inglis, President of Blind Bay Village Grocer. “This event served as a platform to support local, small businesses during the holiday season and foster community spirit in a fun, safe environment.”

A Legacy of Community Leadership

Founded in 1997, Blind Bay Village Grocer has long been a cornerstone of its community, offering groceries, liquor, fuel, and propane, and serving as the only gas station in Blind Bay. Since joining the Lynx family in 2018, BBVG has deepened its community ties, expanded its product offerings, and earned multiple awards for excellence. Past honours include the Shell WOW Heroes Certificate of Recognition for service during the COVID-19 pandemic and induction into the Canadian Independent Grocer Hall of Fame, which celebrates stores that demonstrate consistent excellence.

BBVG has also built a strong legacy of community support, contributing to initiatives such as the local women’s shelter, fire department, Canadian Cancer Society, and Sorrento Lake General Hospital. The store has further invested in the next generation by providing more than 1,200 breakfasts for the Sorrento Elementary School breakfast program over three consecutive years.

Blind Bay remains an outstanding example of a Lynx subsidiary that continues to innovate while staying true to its community roots.
